In the name of Democracy, In the name of Dynasty

In the name of Democracy, In the name of Dynasty
“I was not consulted when Uddhav Thackeray made Karyakari Pramukh ( Working President) of Shivsena,”the aging leader of Shivsena Balasaheb Thackeray announced in Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Central Mumbai. In the same breath he also announced that Aditya Thackeray the 20 year old grand son and son of Uddhav will be leader of Yuva Sena , a newly formed youth wing of Shivsena. Senior Thackeray reiterated that again he was not part of the decision. It was decided by the party & he asked party workers if you did not like then Aditya will not be leader. None from the lakh strong crowd dare to say NO!
Aditya crowned as prince of Shivsena. Long live the dynasty rule! Few years ago the same Balasaheb was accusing Congress and NCP for dynasty politics. And now he is supporting the same but infront of the party workers he is behaving as if he was and is not party to the decision. The same drama we saw when Rajiv Gandhi became crown prince of Congress in 1982. The drama repeated when his son Rahul became crown prince. Likewise Supriya Sule made heir of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. Be it Karunanidhi or Farukh Abdulla there are many parties in India who have chosen son or daughter of the leader as his or her political heir.
Why politicians in India need someone from their family to run their party in a democratic process in this country? Why they can’t find out any single worker from their lakhs of party workers to run the party?  Are the workers or party office bearers they choose to run the administration of the party are not fit to head the affairs of the party?
The real answer is these leaders are running business in the name of running a party in this democratic country. Yes, business. They are working for starting business, expanding it. Garnering crores of rupees from these businesses. In this process they are also helping there loyal party workers and office bearers to start business. Earning handsome money out of it.
Taking bribes and investing it in real estate is now the main business of our politicians. In Mumbai builders are known for their links with politicians. Insiders from the industry know that which politicians are investing with whom. In 80s and 90s gangs are controlled by politicians. In the 90s the gangsters started becoming politicians. Now builders are controlled by politicians but in couple of years these builders will enter in Assemblies and Parliament. In Mumbai virtually every MLA is having partnership in construction business. MPs are also not behind in this process. Politicians are not asking for money as a bribe from builders. They are asking flats in lieu of bribe. Builders also very happy to obliged them as they donot need to give them hard cash. When construction cost is Rs 2000  per square feet and the sale price of the flat is Rs. 4000 to 25000 per square feet one can do mathematics how much profit builders and their controllers are collecting.
The business is lucrative. That’s why we see rise in neta’s property in every affidavit in every election. Apart from construction business the politicians are now partners with big companies. Albeit sleeping partners. They are controlling the stakes in these companies with web of companies where chamchas of leaders are directors on the company board. One politician from Western Maharashtra put his servent  as a director on one of his companies. The daughter and son in law of Sharad Pawar was director of LAVASA from 2002 to 2005. In this period LAVASA got all govt permissions. Sharad Pawar defends this always. He says is there any rule that relatives of politicians do not do business? The same question asks every politicians in this country. When R. D. Tyagi was Police Commissioner of Mumbai his son was running a bar without permit.  When Daily Saamana, the mouth piece of Shivsena broke the news Shivsena Pramukh came forward to defend Tyagi. He wrote a special editorial in his mouthpiece and mentioned that Tyagi should not be blamed for wrongdoing of his son! The son of police commissioner is doing business of selling liquor without license and the politician is protecting the business because ultimately he want to promote himself in the business fraternity of politicians and Govt officers that he is the Protector of their interest. Do business!
So people of India..your politicians, Govt officers their henchmen means business! If you did not participate you have to perish. If you participate by any means you will gain as much as you can extract. For this you have to learn how to take bribe, how to extort. If you can’t at least shut your mouth. Be the business run, if you need your price to shut your mouth let the election comes. You will get money. You will get vegetarian or non vegetarian lunch and dinner in the campaign days. If you donot want see the show of democracy you can simply put rope around your neck and say goodbye to this great farce of democracy.
